Nestled between the sea and the magical green mountains close to the secluded El Albir beach on the Mediterranean Coast of Spain, SHA Wellness Clinic is owned and developed by the Bataller family. Its conception was influenced by Alfredo Bataller Parietti’s personal experience of the life-changing benefits of the macrobiotic diet, following years of ineffective traditional drug treatment for an illness that he had developed as a young man. After their father’s full recovery, the whole Bataller family adopted the principles of macrobiotics and have experienced positive changes in their lives and wellbeing ever since.

Today, Alfredo’s continuing passion for macrobiotics and his belief in its healing benefits has encouraged him to reach out to a wider world by building his own clinic that is centred on the macrobiotic system of diet. In 2007, he started to build SHA and chose a spot that was very close to his heart – the family’s private residence at Playa del Albir, a plot of land that Alfredo initially never wanted to develop. There will be 5 individual and architecturally striking buildings which are modern in design and interconnected with bridges.

The 93 suites range from 84 sqm to 320 sqm in size, most have private balconies and terraces and some will also include Jacuzzis and small kitchens for in-room dining. Zen gardens, extensive water features and chill out areas feature throughout the property.

The SHA Method is a way of life based on an understanding of the rhythm, ebb and flow of nature and the goal of macrobiotics is to provide the body with essential nutrients so that it can function efficiently. The macrobiotic practice is a comparatively modern one and teaches conscious eating together with the balance of yin and yang in our diet and lifestyle choices.

Prices start from 1,750 Euros for a 7-night SHA Lifestyle Programme that includes accommodation in a double suite, personally assigned doctor, two medical consultations (on arrival and before departure), a personalised macrobiotics diet, 1 massage, 3 hydrotherapy sessions, a talk on anti-ageing, morning meditation classes, afternoon yoga classes, use of sport facilities, talks and conferences on the subject of macrobiotics and related philosophies and airport transfers.
